Music Monday – Music Used in Season Four

Happy Holidays, Grimmsters!

Not a huge amount used this season, but I always recommend getting a hold of the album by Richard Marvin. Last time I checked you could only buy it in physical form from Amazon, but it’s a real treat.

Violin Sonata In G Major, BWV 1021 : I. Adagio by Ekkehard Weber, Boris Kleiner & Georg Egger

Ready or Not (feat. Esthero) by Mischa “Book” Chillak

Hands Up by NF

El Cascanueces, suite Op. 71 a – Danza Rusa by Orquesta Sinfónica De Radio Praga

The Silence Is Deafening by Awaken

You Belong to Me by Santo & Johnny

I just had a horrible thought:

Apparently, these HW people have the resources to completely erase a crime scene, bring a person back from what should have been a fatal wound, and completely reprogram someone, either through magic or good old-fashioned brainwashing techniques, to the point that they no longer even identify with the person they were before or feel anything for the people they knew in their previous life.

And we’ve talked a bit (a very small bit) about Trubel, why she’s working with them, etc. But…if they could reprogram Juliette completely in a matter of a few weeks, is there any reason they couldn’t do the same to Trubel in the months she was gone? Assuming she told Nick the truth, and they really did find her right after she left with Josh (is he even still alive????), how do we know they didn’t just lock her in that cell for months and do whatever they did to Juliette to her as well?

Siobhan’s Endless Royals Meta: Part I’ve Completely Forgot Now

King Frederick Renard was King of (presumably, and only) Austria, and head of Kronenburg House, which had interests as far as America, Germany* and possibly some other places too.

He had two children that we know about – his son by his wife, Eric, and his son by Elizabeth Laschelles, Sean.

It’s unsure how much control he actually had over the Royals. Most of the power appears to have been devolved to the Crown Prince – Eric wasted it, but Viktor was able to launch assassination attempts against one of his sons with the full knowledge of the leader of the Verrat, who sided with Viktor and not the King. Rispoli later said their loyalty is to the Family, not to any particular member, so it served Viktor well to frighten them, so perhaps Frederick had less control of the Verrat in particular.

However, he could recall Viktor from his duties in Portland and it perhaps becomes less of whether Frederick had any power, and more whether he gave a shit about certain things or not. We don’t know what else the Royals were up to, and it could be the case that Frederick was tied up with more conventional royal duties and delegated most of the Grimm duties to Viktor.

He was a bit of a fluffball and had grand plans for Diana that didn’t seem hugely creepy, because we did see him treat Diana like the little child she was. However, he did mention she would be the builder of kingdoms or something like that, so maybe he had the sort of plans that Sean was so worried about. We don’t know all that much about him. He states that it was his wife that attempted to have Sean and Elizabeth killed, but it’s never been confirmed or denied by anyone else. Sean doesn’t seem particularly bothered to hear his father has been killed, being much more emotional about his half-brother, but that’s another post.

It’s unsure whether he killed his wife for her machinations against Sean, or she was killed by someone else or even died of natural causes. He certainly has a fondness for Hexenbiests as evidenced by his flirtations with Juliette, so it’s more than possible HE knew Elizabeth was a Hexenbiest, just that the castle as a whole didn’t. We’ll talk more about the ousting of Sean from the palace in a separate post.

He certainly didn’t forsee Viktor making a deal with the Resistance to murder him, but whether that is because Viktor is very good with a very tight inner circle, or Frederick wasn’t very smart, or nobody liked Frederick as King for some unknown reason. Or a mix of all three.

The next post we’ll look at Sean and Elizabeth leaving the castle, and Sean’s relationship with his father and brother.

*Monroe can work out from one or two keys that whatever the keys lead to is in Germany, so presumably the Royals with their four keys have come to the same conclusion.

Twitter Thursday – S05E06 Wesen Nacht

Each Thursday we’re rounding up the best cast/crew live-tweets from the previous week’s new episode of Grimm! This year’s midseason finale gave us a LOT of revelations (and a return that I’m personally SUPER EXCITED ABOUT) and all hands seemed to be on deck for tweeting. That being said, here’s the round up for S05xE06 Wesen Nacht.

Claire Coffee inspired us with this tale of Jacqueline Tuboni’s passion for Trubel’s appetite

Reggie Lee coined this super appropriate word

Michael Golamco basically summed up Team Grimm’s friendship dynamic

David Giuntoli was one of us

Bitsie Tulloch finally got to use this rap that shes probably been preparing for the last six months

My theory as to why they handled Monroe the way they did was cause they heard about the LAST group that tried to kill him and what happened to them. (not sure HOW they heard but I’m betting that story was spread quickly through the community and it’s also possible that some pepole were part of both groups.) Also The Spice shop is the closest thing they HAVE to a wesen pharmacy so that could be another reason they didn’t destroy it.

You know…I think those are two really good theories. Then again, I wonder if the spice shop thing might be because it’s a Wesen business selling products specific to the Wesen community and culture, primarily to Wesen customers…whereas the other businesses that got hit all seemed to be Wesen-run businesses selling typical Kehrseite products to both Kehrseite and Wesen customers.

In fact, I get the distinct feeling that the Black Claw resent humans, assimilation and coexistence with humans, and the secrecy enforced on the Wesen community, and that their major goal is to completely overthrow that system. I mean, their motto is “Free the Hidden.”
