28 Days of Grimm – Day 2 (fav episode)

OK, tiny bit late here

Season 1 Episode 19 “Leave it to Beavers”

Prior to this episode, the show had all the Wesen as primarily loners with a few family units. While one got the sense of a wider community from discussions from Monroe & Rosalee, this episode firmly established that Wesen were a culture unto their own. For me, this turns Grimm from a police procedural with supernatural elements into something completely unique.

Plus… Bud was awesome.

S1 E6: The Three Bad Wolves

This is SO hard, but my heart has to go with S1 E6: The Three Bad Wolves. While I love the sophistication of the later episodes, I have a fondness for the early days of Nick learning this whole new world. I also love a Monroe-centric episode, and his early time with Hap is hilarious. But Angelina (Jaime Ray Newman) is Grimm at its best, giving women its smartest, most powerful roles.

Runners up: I mean, omg, all of them (except for The Thing with Feathers, Kiss of the Muse and Bad Moon Rising)? But if I have to choose, maybe:

S2 E2: The Kiss – Kelly kills Katherine (another spectacular older female character) in spectacular fashion

S2 E22: Goodnight, Sweet Grimm – Oh, love me some Papa Ghede!

S1 E22: Woman in Black – the introduction of Kelly Burkhardt!

S1 E3: Beeware – the culture of the Mellifers was fascinating

S1 E21: Big Feet – for Monroe’s “Larry?”

S1 E5: Danse Macabre – I love Roddy!

S3 E19: Nobody Knows the Trubel I’ve Seen – introduction of Trubel!

The first one the came to my mind was Once We Were Gods (Season 3, Episode 15.)

We get so many good interactions this episode!!! My favourites have to be the scene between Alexander and Nick in the car, and the one between Adalind and Meisner in the cabin.

(Other episodes that come close are The Bottle Imp, Where The Wild Things Were, Breakfast in Bed and Stories we Tell our Young.)

Monroe has been my favourite character since I started the show (his character was 50% of the pitch my mother used to get me – a person who HATES gore – to sit down on the couch and watch episode 3. Yeah I watched s1 out of order. Bite me.) I really really vibe with Monroe (I’m autistic and I think he is to), and I am always a fan of what he does.

(Nick is a very close second, though.)

28 Days of Grimm, Day 2

Favorite Episode: Where the Wild Things Were

This episode!! There’s so much I could say about it. I could talk for days. The whole idea of this other, wilder world, the danger and also melancholy of it. Eve being there because she wants to atone for her mistakes, Nick going after her without a second thought. The two of them fighting side by side in a way we really haven’t seen before, finally equals and on the same page. The fact that they can trust each other like that after everything.

And that painful, heart-rending, cathartic speech Eve gives to Nick, absolving him of everything and assuring him she has no regrets. The fact that she makes the choice–she who has had so few choices up to that point–not to go back to what they were, breaking the love triangle by saying no, that’s not who I am or what I want anymore.

It hurts, my Silverhardt shipper heart especially, but it’s such a beautiful moment for them and for her.

pixiedustandbluebutterflies:

This was a doozy for me to choose because, honestly, it changed almost every season. But I kept coming back to one person who I adore and want to live up to every day.

The incomparable Rosalee Calvert. Rosalee is just my type of character – intelligent, fierce, and loyal with steadfast morals but questionable ethics. Rosalee has a dark past that shaped her but didn’t jade her. She is dutiful but won’t be taken advantage of. She has a thirst for knowledge and a desire to help. Rosalee is empathetic and non-judgmental but will hold you accountable for your words and actions.
