The First Cut Is The Deepest
Grimm S5 vs. S1

I honestly have no idea how to feel about that scene between Nick and Adalind.
Adalind Schade, that is not an appropriate bedtime story.
Nick: Now that I think about it…you were my first.
Adalind: Your first…what?
Nick: The first woge I ever saw.
…??? What? Adalind went through so much to get those powers back. I’m so… idK??????
Sorry that’s not very coherent but I think you’re picking up what I’m putting down, Grimmsters.
She also willingly gave them up. It was in the interest of self preservation, but still.
A very good point! Twice now she’s mentioned not wanting the powers back because she felt she couldn’t be a good mother with them. Which, as some others have suggested, really does make it seem as though those powers have a definite affect on the personality of the people who have them.
I think it’s safe to say hexen-suppressed Adalind is a different person in MANY ways from hexenbiest Adalind…whether through personal growth or because of the suppression itself. I’m interested to see how they build on this theme as the season goes on.
And the idea of Adalind just doing everything she can to please her mother and make her proud just hurts.
This line:
“A bit of it [the white powder] smudged against her skin, but she refused to wipe it off, enjoying the gritty feel of it; it helped her keep Catherine’s touch in her memory longer.”
KILLS ME. Because now I’m picturing this sweet, innocent little girl who just wants her mother to be proud of her, who’s positively starved for affection and attention, doing everything she can to get any semblance of either from Catherine.
It would certainly explain a lot to me about how adamant Adalind is about being there for her children.
This is incredibly sad, but I can totally see this being canon. What little we know about Adalind’s childhood and her relationship with her mother suggests she was treated more like a tool than a daughter for most of her life. I mean, her mother basically disowned her the second she lost her powers, so it just doesn’t seem that far-fetched.
Ooo it’s about a young Adalind.
Poor Sean…pining over a girl’s voice against his will.
Seriously…the more I think about it and read fic about it, the more it hits me how Adalind’s revenge was so fucking complete in every way.
I still find it horrible, but god…she took something so important from each person. She took Juliette’s ability to be secure in her own mind away from her. She took Juliette’s love and their life together from Nick (and from Juliette as well). And she took Sean’s perfect control from him.
