I’m sorry anon, but for me it goes well beyond simply not being a fan of it. I find the ship itself deeply problematic and it personally reminds me of things I’d rather not think about, so I won’t be creating gifs of that scene or any of their scenes. There’s a sizeable Nadalind fanbase though, so I’m sure if you give it a day or two the scene will be gif’d all over the place.

What is your opinion on Nadalind? I find it really unsettling personally.
I’m glad you asked, Anon. We’ve actually been discussing this among the members of FYNB a bit.
I won’t speak for Liz or Siobhan, but I personally do not ship it at all, nor do I find it a healthy relationship or think it’s something that should be romanticized or painted as positive.
Adalind has done a lot of harm to Nick and the people he cares about. Now some would argue that she hasn’t done anything to hurt Nick in a long time, but in my opinion showing up last season and emotionally manipulating him with the fact that she was carrying his child counts as hurt.
Remember, this isn’t a woman who was in a relationship with a man showing up and requesting that he be a part of his child’s life. This is a woman who raped a man, showing up and using the child that resulted from that rape to make him do what she wants (namely protecting her from other people she’s hurt).
I know they’ve gone to great lengths to make it clear that at least some of what Adalind did in the past was influenced by the fact that she was a hexenbiest. At the same time, Nadalind has been a popular ship in the Grimm fandom long before they ever even began to establish that idea in the show. And speaking in sci-fi terms, just because someone didn’t want to do something horrible to someone else doesn’t mean the person they hurt is any less hurt.
Even right after Adalind raped Nick at the end of season and he was obviously, visibly devastated at the loss of his powers, there were people enthusiastically shipping them. I’ve seen gifs of the rape scene used in Nadalind shipping posts, for goodness’ sake. I’ve even seen flat-out denial of the fact that it was rape in the Nadalind tag.
TL;DR: I don’t ship it, I don’t support shipping it, and I’m disappointed that the show seems to be flirting with that direction. I think it’s one more example of how flippantly mainstream media treats the topic of rape, especially when the victims are male and the perpetrators are female. I understand completely why you would find it upsetting.
Lucien and Martin, brothers? Possibility. Thoughts?
They seriously look freakishly alike to me, so maybe? I’m picking up what you’re putting down, anon.
What do you think would happen if a Grimm had a child with a full Wesen? What traits would the kid inherit?
Well, Anon…it’s hard to say, given what little we know about Wesen inherited traits even between different types of Wesen. Although I have a feeling we’re going to get at least some of this answered, considering that’s exactly what we have with Nick and Adalind’s child.
I can see three distinct possibilities:
- One side or the other will “win out,” as in the child will either present Wesen traits exclusively or Grimm traits exclusively.
- The two sides will cancel each other out completely, and the child will present only ordinary human traits.
- The child will have traits from both parents, so for instance they might be able to woge and have other abilities associated with their Wesen parent, but also be able to see the woges of others and inherit the strength and adaptability of Grimm as well.
It’s an interesting question! I can’t wait to see how the show handles it.
My theory as to why they handled Monroe the way they did was cause they heard about the LAST group that tried to kill him and what happened to them. (not sure HOW they heard but I’m betting that story was spread quickly through the community and it’s also possible that some pepole were part of both groups.) Also The Spice shop is the closest thing they HAVE to a wesen pharmacy so that could be another reason they didn’t destroy it.
You know…I think those are two really good theories. Then again, I wonder if the spice shop thing might be because it’s a Wesen business selling products specific to the Wesen community and culture, primarily to Wesen customers…whereas the other businesses that got hit all seemed to be Wesen-run businesses selling typical Kehrseite products to both Kehrseite and Wesen customers.
In fact, I get the distinct feeling that the Black Claw resent humans, assimilation and coexistence with humans, and the secrecy enforced on the Wesen community, and that their major goal is to completely overthrow that system. I mean, their motto is “Free the Hidden.”
I don’t know if you’ve been asked this before but what do you think is the scariest wesen is?
Hello Anon!
Admin Liz here! Personally, the scariest wesen is probably the Gedächtnis Esser. It’s the octopus-like Wesen that steals your memories, leaving you with nothing. For me, the idea of something taking my identity away from me is much more terrifying than someone physically hurting me.
Do you think the new girl casted on the show will be Trubels love interest? I was kind of hoping she would have a story with the boxes guy from last season?
From what I can find online, it’s hard to say. But I would be so excited to see that! Not only would I love to see more Trubel, I adore Carlson Young.
I’m watching Grimm and I’m like: Do they really use German words? Yeah they do! It’s so great, like Wesen or Blutbader, because I already know what that means :D just wanted to say this
Most people say that they completely butcher the German language (I don’t speak German, so idk) so I’m glad that you’ve heard some words that you’re familiar with and make sense in context!
Fic rec: ao3 > works/2809157
Thanks nonny! Looks good. It’ll definitely be the next one we do, after Hotel California.
You said you needed fic recs? Have you read Hotel California?
I have not! Although it was on a list I made of things I might want to read at some point, so congrats! Your rec just bumped it to the top!
So next week will be Hotel California by VampirePam, which is seven chapters long, so that will take us to almost to the end of August. In the meantime, I’d still love any of your fic recs, Grimmsters! We still have over two months of Ficblog Fridays to go after Hotel California, after all!
