Hi Grimmsters,
We’re all excited for a new episode of Grimm tonight, and we’ll begin blogging about that later today as we lead up to our regular liveblog. However, before we get to the fun stuff there’s a serious issue we would like to address.
It was recently brought to our attention that some of the fanart we reblog here is not always correctly attributed to its creator. After reviewing our fanart tag, we’ve found the handful of posts and have either removed them or attributed them accordingly.
In the past, it has also been our habit to post work found on deviantArt using that site’s tumblr share button, with the artist attributed in the source, caption, and tags. Occasionally we have been asked by the artist to take the art down and reblog their posts instead, which we have always done.
I would like to make it very clear that all of the admins here have the utmost respect for artists and want to support them in every way possible. When we put art on the blog, we want to make sure that it’s bringing credit and attention to the artist who put in the hard work.
To this end, we have implemented a new policy for posting or reblogging fanart. The purpose of this policy is hold us, as admins, accountable for the things we post, and to make sure that artists get the credit they absolutely deserve.
We would all like to issue a formal apology to anyone whose art has been reblogged here without attribution. If at any time you wish to have your art removed from this blog, or wish to have your own posts containing your art reblogged in place of an attributed post from deviantart, please send us an ask or fanmail.
You can read the full fanart policy here.
