Here they are, Grimmsters! The prompts for June. Remember: you can submit for only one prompt, or all prompts, or just a couple, or you can submit more than one fic for a single prompt if you want! It’s all about having fun and writing fic.

Week One (June 3-9)
What’s next? Start with the final moments of season five. What happens? Where do Nick and Renard go from here? How does Trubel react to the realization that Juliette is back? Where does that tunnel lead?

Week Two (June 10-16)
Fix-It Fic! No matter how hard they try, the writers can’t please everybody. There will always be fans who wish the story had gone another way. So take one thing that happened in season five that you hated, and fix it!

Week Three (June 17-23)
Role Reversal. Take any character and make them switch sides. Are they a bad guy in canon? Now they’re a good guy. Are they a hero in canon? Now they’re the villain.

Week Four (June 24-30)
Crossover AU. Pick a ‘verse, any ‘verse! Traditional crossovers as well as fusions welcome.

Don’t forget: post your fic as a text post or link and tag your submissions with grimmsummerficathon2016 and the number of the week you’re writing for! You can also post to our AO3 Collection.

Greeting Grimmsters!

The Grimm Summer Ficathon starts in just two days, so here are some finalized guidelines for you to keep in mind as you get ready to post some amazing stories. For future reference, you can find this and other relevant Ficathon information in the links on our Keeping the Hiatus Grimm page.

How It Works

Throughout the summer, FYNB will be accepting prompt ideas for the ficathon. Please submit your prompt ideas to the ask box. Submissions can be anonymous, but if you would like to get credit for your prompt, submit it publicly or sign your ask with the name you prefer to be given credit under.

On the first Friday of each month, I will post a list of prompts: one for each week in that month. From the moment the prompts are posted, the ficathon is on!

Fics may be posted anywhere. However, in order for fics to be reblogged to FYNB, they must be posted to tumblr as a text post or link post and tagged grimmsummerficathon2016 along with the number of the week (for instance, week 1).

In order for your submission to show up in the tag, it must be among the first five tags on your post.

I have also created a collection on AO3.

At the end of each seven-day period, I will check the tag and start queueing up submissions to be reblogged to FYNB.

Rules

  1. Only submissions posted and tagged according to the guidelines above will be reblogged.
  2. Do not send an ask, submission, or fanmail of your fic or a link to your fic directly to FYNB. Any such submissions will be deleted immediately.
  3. Absolutely no fics that depict sexual situations involving underage individuals will be allowed in the AO3 collection or reblogged to FYNB.
  4. Please tag your submissions as thoroughly as possible for characters, ships, and content. This will aid us in the reblogging process.
  5. Under no circumstances should you post or submit someone else’s work as your own.

FYNB admins reserve the right to refrain from reblogging any work that violates these rules on FYNB, or remove it from the collection on AO3.

Grimm Summer Ficathon

Greetings Grimmsters!

Admin Liza here to help kick off this hiatus with a bang…er, so to speak.

As any of you who’ve been following FYNB for a while probably know, fanfiction is my passion. If there’s ever a fic-centric thing of any kind on FYNB, I’m probably the one behind it, because there is nothing I love more than the idea of a massive group of people coming together around a single story and weaving their own mythologies out of it. It’s magical to me, seriously.

Ahem. Anyway, instead of a fic rec or liveblog every Friday this year of pre-existing fics, I thought it might be fun to do a series of fic weeks. And as always, I’d love to have your input and recommendations, so keep reading for the details!

How It Works

On the first Friday of every month, I will post a list of the topics for each week in that month. That way, you can choose ahead of time which weeks you’d like to participate in.

I’ll begin reblogging posts from the tumblr tag for week one starting at the end of week one. But if you don’t manage to get something in for week one, don’t worry! You have all month.

Note: Please make sure you tag appropriately for warnings and triggers on anything you add to the tag, whatever platform you choose to use. I understand that fanfiction is often used to explore a lot of difficult topics and themes, but I also want to make sure the Grimm fandom is a safe place for everyone.

Topic Submissions

I only have a few topics in mind thus far, so if anyone would like to contribute ideas for a topic, please feel free to send them to FYNB via the ask box.

Anonymous submissions are welcome, but if you would like to get credit for your idea, send it under your username and I’ll tag you in the post for that week!

Topic idea submissions are welcome as long as there are weeks in the hiatus that we don’t have a topic for. 

Fic Submissions

Please do not submit your fics to our inbox! Post them on your favorite fic locale (AO3, FFN, LiveJournal, Dreamwidth, etc) and post a link to tumblr. You can also post the fic directly on tumblr as text.

Please tag all links/fic posts with “grimmsummerficathon2016” and “week 1,” “week 2,” etc. Make sure these two tags are among the first five tags on your post.

I will also be creating a collection on AO3 for anyone posting there! More about that as the start of the first week grows closer.

Welcome to Hiatus!

Tonight will be the first Friday night without a new episode of Grimm, and thus the official start of the hiatus. And if you’re like me, that means the painful reality is slowly setting in that we’ll have to wait FIVE MONTHS to find out what’s next for Team Grimm.

But don’t lose all hope just yet! We’ve got a lot of neat things planned for the hiatus this year, all dedicated to giving you the Grimm Fix you crave (and giving all of us admins a chance/excuse to dive into the things about Grimm we love the most)!

So be sure to track our hiatus tags “keeping the hiatus grimm” and “grimm hiatus 2016,” or check out the link at the top of the blog for more Grimm goodness all summer long!
