28 Days of Grimm – Day Three (Favorite season)

serveandfolly:

Season 1

These questions are hard! I thought for sure I’d put them in this order: 2-3-1-4-5-6, but when I reviewed the episode list, I just have so much affection for so many scenes in season 1. I love the simplicity of the stories, I love watching Nick discover this new world and I really love Nick’s and Monroe’s burgeoning relationship.

I also love the darkness and complicated plotlines of the other seasons, but season one will always have a special charm for me.

Btw, huge THANK YOU to whoever started this fun challenge. I love the show so much but nobody seems to talk about it anymore, so it’s nice to be a part of this community.

Day 4! Tell us what’s your favorite Woge?

This can be a particular Wesen’s woge in general or a specific instance of a woge in the show.

Day 3! What’s your favorite season of the show?

Season 2! The team is more consolidated, Juliet and Hank start discovering things, and Nick is not so clueless anymore!

28 Days of Grimm, Day 3

Favorite Season: Season 3

When I think about everything I loved about the show, it’s ALL there in season 3. The team dynamic, the batshit storylines with twists I could never see coming, the endlessly inventive WotW plots that never got old. Season 3 is the peak of all of that for me. It’s when Team Grimm is at their best, IMO. It’s when Juliette is finay part of the team, too, which made me so happy to watch.

But also season 3 was just one of the best with the tightest writing, IMO. It started with the dial turned up to 11 and never slowed down. Every episode was great on its own and it all built steadily to a shocking finale that absolutely flattened the fandom emotionally. The world-building and the way all of the characters were delved into was incredible.

This is the season that gave us zombie!Nick and all his after-effects, Krampus, El Cucuy, the Aswang, the Wesen Council, Jake and Elly, Decapitare. This is the season that gave us Madalind, and Diana. That heart-wrenching moment for Adalind in front of Portland PD. Viktor, aka still the scariest of the royals IMO. Monrosalee wedding. This season had literally everything but telling Wu the truth, and it still planted the seeds for that.

Sometimes I feel like the latter seasons didn’t fully realize the potential of everything set up in season 3. But mostly I’m just glad we have it, because it was an incredible season.

28 Days of Grimm – Day 2 (fav episode)

OK, tiny bit late here

Season 1 Episode 19 “Leave it to Beavers”

Prior to this episode, the show had all the Wesen as primarily loners with a few family units. While one got the sense of a wider community from discussions from Monroe & Rosalee, this episode firmly established that Wesen were a culture unto their own. For me, this turns Grimm from a police procedural with supernatural elements into something completely unique.

Plus… Bud was awesome.

Day 3! What’s your favorite season of the show?

28 Days of Grimm – Day Two (Favorite episode)

serveandfolly:

S1 E6: The Three Bad Wolves

This is SO hard, but my heart has to go with S1 E6: The Three Bad Wolves. While I love the sophistication of the later episodes, I have a fondness for the early days of Nick learning this whole new world. I also love a Monroe-centric episode, and his early time with Hap is hilarious. But Angelina (Jaime Ray Newman) is Grimm at its best, giving women its smartest, most powerful roles.

Runners up: I mean, omg, all of them (except for The Thing with Feathers, Kiss of the Muse and Bad Moon Rising)? But if I have to choose, maybe:

S2 E2: The Kiss – Kelly kills Katherine (another spectacular older female character) in spectacular fashion

S2 E22: Goodnight, Sweet Grimm – Oh, love me some Papa Ghede!

S1 E22: Woman in Black – the introduction of Kelly Burkhardt!

S1 E3: Beeware – the culture of the Mellifers was fascinating

S1 E21: Big Feet – for Monroe’s “Larry?”

S1 E5: Danse Macabre – I love Roddy!

S3 E19: Nobody Knows the Trubel I’ve Seen – introduction of Trubel!
