What do they want with Hank’s computer files and emails? Are they trying to gather intel on Nick? Because there honestly seem to be better ways to go about that.

Or does Hank know something else valuable, something maybe he doesn’t even realize he knows?

I wish I had more faith in Grimm but I have just gotten to the point with shows this season that as soon as I hear that someone is being killed off, I think it is going to be a person of color, a female of an lgbt character. I don’t want to think that Hank will be the one who dies but he just seems like it will be him.

I’m worried about this too, for sure. I want–really, really want–to have faith in the Grimm Writers. I keep reminding myself of all the times I thought they were about to let me down only to be pleasantly surprised. But over this last seasons, it’s gotten harder to trust not only because of certain developments within this show, but also because of the general climate of “kill everyone who’s not a straight, white cismale” on other shows as well.

So believe me when I say I am with you in your anxiety. I am seriously concerned about Hank and almost dreading the last three episodes because of my worries over what could happen to him.

If I could talk to the Grimm Writers and say one thing to them right now, it would be “please don’t kill Hank. Or Wu. You have no idea how important they are. The message you’d be contributing to would be horrible. Please.”

Do you think Grimm is going to kill off Hank? Rusell wasn’t in the picture for the last day of filming for season 5 and a main character is supposed to be be dying this season aren’t they?

Hi Anon – Admin Liz here.

I really hope they don’t kill off Hank because he’s been with us since season one, and I, personally, absolutely adore him. Russell not being in the wrap photo doesn’t necessarily mean he was killed off – I think they’d actually make a point to include him if that was the case. He may just not have been around when it was taken.

Every year there are rumors that a main character is going to be killed off, and we’ve come close few times, but I try to not let those rumors stress me out until something actually happens.

Hi Anon! Liza chiming in as well.

Every season so far has indeed ended with a member of the main cast (Nick, Hank, Monroe, Rosalee, Juliette, Sean, and Wu) seemingly dead, nearly dead, or in mortal peril. In season one, it was Juliette. In season two, it was Nick. In season three, it was Renard. In season four, it was Juliette again. And thus far all of those characters are still around (even if some of them don’t go by the same name).

So to me, I’m fine with Hank ending up in mortal peril like so many other characters have, just as long as they don’t try to “raise the stakes” by breaking tradition and killing him off permanently.

I feel it would be a huge slap in the face to have the first main cast death that sticks be one of only two characters of color in that main cast. Particularly a Black man and particular right now, with all the outrage over how many PoC, female, and queer characters have been killed off recently on TV, to say nothing of it happening against a backdrop of increased public hate speech towards these groups and unceasing police violence against PoC, especially Black men and women.

So…I really really hope they won’t kill Hank off but I’m also really worried that they will.

Is it too much to hope that Hank is actually onto Zuri and is playing along to see what she is up to?

Hi Anon! Admin Liz here – I wouldn’t say it’s too much to hope, but I would say that we, as omnipotent viewers, have a very different perspective on the issue. Hank has a lot going on right now, so I think that he’s enjoying having something relatively normal and low-key happening in his life. I, personally, don’t think he’s suspicious of Zuri simply because he doesn’t want to bring all of the Team Grimm baggage into something that can act as an escape for him. His previous experiences with Zuri are also probably clouding any suspicious behavior.

Hopefully he’ll be a little more on his toes after the end of last episode (when they said to be suspicious of everyone), but we’ll have to see how it works out!

What if Zuri is one of the crazy wesen that’s part of black claw and is trying to get back in with Hank to lure him away from Nick?…i mean she did refer to Nick as “the Grimm”…

I (Mod Siobhan) think you’re right! A sudden change of heart, being in Hank’s local food shop* when it’s waay across town from where she lives, her previous very rigid stance on Human/Wesen relationships. Her brother is away at college, so not in harm’s way, and she did grill him a bit about Nick…

And since we’ve not seen Black Claw specifically go after Nick, only attack him when he was with HW, this must be their plan, since there is no way they think they can hold Portland with Nick still alive…

(*Grocery store? Siobhan can’t American very well)

I’d like to add that Zuri asked Hank to go to her house, instead of going out in public. Her house, which is the other side of town, where she would feel comfortable and would not be seen with Hank.

Also, notice the way Hank has been acting around her? He’s been dealing with Wesen for quite a while now, and should not be so nervous/anxious/tense(?) around her. Admittedly, I did try to rationalise it with the idea that he hadn’t quite thought through a relationship with a Wesen when he originally asked her out, and now is having second thoughts about it. However it makes much more sense for Hank to be tense because his instincts are telling him something is wrong.

I meant to say about the house thing, but then I wondered if that was an Americanism, because you do not go round to someone’s house on a first date in Britain unless they’re like, already your friend or like neighbours or something.

Looks like it’s not, and it is very suspicious, especially since she didn’t even think about going out – Hank barely finished his sentence before she was ready with that one, she’d clearly planned it out to be like that rather than a spur of the moment decision, or just an option.

I do think Hank is anxious and his instincts are pinging, ‘cause mine are. Even if you were desperate for a second chance with someone, there’s ‘I’MREALLYSORRYGOONADATEWITHME’ and Zuri’s literal ‘I’m not leaving until I get a date with you’.

Which is not only creepy, but not like Zuri at all, especially since she obviously felt Hank came on way too strong before and reacted that way. She was nice and chatty, but to me seemed very introverted, and not like this new Zuri who practically threw herself at Hank? I know people change, but it’s just not like the Zuri I remember who like, ate a dude. I think she’s not the Zuri Hank remembers, and that’s also why he feels weird about it.  Didn’t he also take a few moments to put a name to her face as well, whereas she knew him straight away, almost like she was waiting for him…
