A lot of bad things happened to me when all of this started. I didn’t understand it. I was scared, and angry, and I did a lot of terrible things. Things I can never forgive Juliette for. But I am not Juliette anymore, Nick. She’s gone. There may be a part of me that is like her, but it’s not who I am now, and it’s not who I’m gonna be again. I don’t blame you. When we were together, I only knew a part of who you were. YOU only knew a part of who you were.

Can you imagine how terrifying this must be for Eve, though? It can’t possibly not remind her of another time she was transformed into a hexenbiest in a way that was beyond her control.
Nick, how the hell have you been a Grimm for six years, six years, and not learned more German than this? I mean it never occurred to you that it might come in handy?
But of course Juliette learned German. Because Juliette is a boss and always fucking prepared.
Juliette and Eve both have always tried to take care of things on their own. I just hope it doesn’t get her killed. Again.
Just a curious person here, how do you feel about how Juliette/Eve`s character developed over the past couple episodes? I feel like since after “Blind Love” her feelings for Nick have been coming back. It just feels weird having her suddenly feel something for Nick again after all that`s happened between them, and what she`s done. Personally, I think Juliette`s coming in sort of late with the whole “I love Nick again” thing, now that Adalind`s in the picture. Like sorry Juliette 😒 bit too late.
Well, Anon, I have to disagree. First, I think there’s a lot more to Juliette/Eve’s character development this season than just her feelings for Nick. Second, I think it’s pretty clear that her feelings for Nick have been coming back since long before that. Really, I don’t think we have compelling evidence that they ever left.
The only times Eve showed emotion in season 5 were either in Nick’s presence or directly related to Nick. And there have been little glances and long, sad, searching stares going on all season long this year, and in last season’s finale. “Blind Love” was just the first time she verbally acknowledged it.
And I don’t think it’s ever “too late” to be sorry for what you’ve done or how things turned out, or to feel something or acknowledge your feelings. Simply feeling something or acknowledging she feels it doesn’t mean she’s actually planning to act on those feelings. In fact, I think she’s doing the exact opposite. She tried to distance herself from Nick by moving out of the bunker, her stated reason being that she needed her space and so did Nick and Adalind.
Even if she did decide to act on them…I mean it’s not like they’re completely one-sided. Nick has always acted weird around Eve. He’s never stopped looking for Juliette in her face. He’s always been ready to run to help her when she needed it.
And ever since it became clear that Juliette wasn’t completely gone at the end of season 5, things between them have shifted and Nick has been thinking a lot more–with literal flashbacks in case we weren’t quite getting it–about his life with Juliette and how much she means to him, and everything that happened between them. Which actually shows how much he’s grown as a person since the early seasons.
There was a time when Nick couldn’t allow himself to sit still and just be there for Juliette, he had to be out doing the Big Man Thing of trying to fix the problem (which is kind of how this whole hexenmess spiraled out of control in the first place). But now? He hears that Eve is hurt and he drops everything he’s doing and runs to her side, and just sits there by her bed, waiting. So she won’t be alone when she wakes up. He even forgets to call her Eve. In that moment she is Juliette to him, and she is hurt, and so he’s there.
So yeah. I don’t think Juliette/Eve is the only person whose feelings have “suddenly” come back (read: always been there and are finally being re-acknowledged).
Now, whether either of them was or is prepared to deal with those feelings further after everything that happened between them in season four–in which Juliette was not the only one at fault and Nick was not the only one hurt, I’d remind you–is a totally different story.
FREAKIN YES. I SAW SO MUCH JULIETTE IN THAT SCENE WITH DIANA. SHE LOOKED SO SCARED AND IT WAS SO MUCH JULIETTE NOT EVE. AND “BURKHART I’LL DO WHATEVER I CAN TO PROTECT YOUR FAMILY.” JULIETTE SILVERTON IS COMING BACK PEOPLE.
This response is SO LATE I’m sorry!
But YOU WERE ALSO RIGHT. Juliette is definitely back and I swear we see more of her with every episode. Eve is still a part of her and I think it’s easier for her and for the team to keep referring to her as Eve, but she’s as Juliette as she’s ever been and I LOVE IT.
If Nadalind doesn’t crash or sink I don’t think I can watch Grimm anymore. The ship has too many defects for it to work too much that I can’t get my head around. the only reason I’m still watching the show now is cause a part of me hopes Juliette will actually come back. That somehow the walls in Eve will be broken & she’ll be able to feel again. I know she’ll never be completely Juliette again. Eve will always be a part of her. But I’d like to see them fix that character. She deserves better
This is a super old ask and I’m so sorry for the delay in answering.
A lot of people feel like you do, myself included. The good news is that Juliette is definitely back, even if she still chooses to go by Eve, and her feelings for Nick are very clearly present and are not being ignored by the writers. You’re right that Eve is still a part of her, but I think they’ve come a long way toward repairing her relationship with the entire team. All we can hope is that this continues for the last four episodes!
What do you think about Grimm focusing so heavily on Eve and sometimes Nick/Eve in the sneak peeks, promos and photos for this season?
I don’t know that it’s accurate to say the promos have focused unduly heavily on Eve or Nick/Eve, any more so than they’ve focused on other pairings or on the other individual characters. But I do think Nick and Eve are both central to whatever the big finale ending is going to be. So far they seem more directly tied to whatever’s going on with the keys, the mirrors, and the symbols than anyone else except for maybe Diana.
And in 6×11, they’re supposed to be off on a mission without the rest of the team, so it definitely makes sense that they would be more prominent in the promo material for that episode. Even still, Eve is only in four images of the twenty-four available for that episode.
Mainly I just think it’s cool that they took a female character who started the series mostly in the background as a love interest and–instead of phasing her out with a break-up or killing her off for mangst–they just made her stronger and more prominent and interesting as the show went on, until finally she’s arguably just as powerful and integral and important to whatever weirdness is happening in the show’s mytharc as the male protagonist.
I’ve just watched episode 4 and I felt so bad about Juliette/Eve being alone in the tunnel… I just want to wrap her in a blanket and hug her.
I know how you feel, anon. Jules has had it rough these past couple of years. She needs a warm fuzzy blanket, a cup of hot cocoa, and a cuddle buddy. And a 24-hour marathon of happy movies with fluffy endings.
