Grimm Collector’s Edition Box Set Review

Part 1: Packaging

Very cool packaging, concept and content-wise, but cheaply made and terrible for the discs. I immediately moved all the discs to a better case though so now I kinda feel like I own a copy of one of Marie’s journals.

The little tie thing that holds it closed is cheap as hell and looks awful, but eh. If I had spent the full price on this I would feel scammed, but on sale it really isn’t a bad price for 6 seasons of television in themed packaging with extra content.

Will give the special features a separate review when I have a chance to watch them all.

Score: 7.5 out of 10

Welp I ordered the Grimm collectible box set because it was on sale and I have zero impulse control apparently so that’ll be here later this month.

Fall is fast approaching…maybe it’s time for a rewatch? I’m still working on Grimm Stats and some other post series we never finished, not to mention two multi-chapter WIPs.

A rewatch could be just the thing to inspire me! And I’ll post a review of the box set as well, in case anyone wants to snag one super cheap on Cyber Monday this year.

Last summer, Universal released Grimm – The Complete Collection in limited-edition packaging designed to resemble one of the journals from Aunt Marie’s trailer.

On July 3rd, Universal will re-release all six seasons of Grimm in a regular edition boxed set for $99.98 (DVD) and $129.98 (Blu-Ray).

The set comes with tons of bonus features, including deleted scenes, gag reels, documentaries, behind-the-scenes features, the ā€œMeltdownā€ webisodes, and more. So…what are fans who didn’t get the limited-edition set missing out on?

Although both the DVD and Blu-Ray boxed set are much cheaper than the limited editions, all on-disc content will be the same. So if you missed the first release, don’t despair! Looks like only thing you’ll really be missing is the sweet packaging–which, while Grimm-tastic, may not be worth the $75-$95 more to fans with limited budgets.

(Especially since you can now obtain that set for less than $50 at many online retailers, and on eBay.)

So I’m going through my gifs and clips of Grimm to fill some of the outstanding gif requests in my inbox, and Nick’s face when Eve saysĀ ā€œI know you’re here because you loved me once,ā€ Nick’s FUCKING FACE kills me every time. Like my god, can’t you see it, Eve? Can’t you see he never once stopped?!

I’ll never be over it.
