Top 5 Grimm Moments by Season
Season 2, #1: Nick is captured by Prince Eric and the Baron in 2×22, “Goodnight, Sweet Grimm”
This is another one of those game-changer moments. Not only did it crank the stakes way up, it fundamentally changed Nick in ways that we still don’t fully understand.
Of course, we all knew on some level that Nick would be back for season three, because most shows don’t kill off or incapacitate their main protagonist for very long. But I’m reminded of a quote from Bruce Coville: “living through something doesn’t mean you haven’t come out different on the other side.”
This was one of those instances where even though I was pretty sure Nick would live, I had no idea who–or what–he would be when he woke up from that cursed sleep.
It was also one of those instances where the Grimm Writers showed their powers of Jedi Mindfuckery, because no matter how hard I tried to believe Nick was going to be okay, that final image of Nick was always in the back of my mind, the Grimm Writers’ metaphorical hands waving in front of my face, murmuring “but will he though?”

Alas, poor Angelina. We hardly knew you.
Seriously though, Angelina Lasser is one of those characters that seems bigger and more important than the mere two episodes she shows up in would suggest. She looms large in the Grimm fandom, in our memories and metas as well as in our fic.
I’m sure that’s due in no small part to Jamie Ray Newman’s flawless portrayal, but it was also just really cool to see a lady Blutbad show up and be the badass leather-clad antithesis of the sweater-wearing, imported-beer-drinking, vegan-sausage-making Monroe.
It sucks that she died, but the way she died also seemed really true to her character, and it truly is one of those unforgettable–if tragic–Grimm moments. Thus, despite my tears, it had to be included.

This scene was just pure fun at the end of an episode that was equal parts gross (eye parasites, euck) and heartbreaking. Nick isn’t often physically vulnerable, and less and less so as the show goes on and he gets better at being a Grimm. So seeing him so helpless, even for a short time, was disconcerting.
But at the end, we were rewarded with this little tidbit: Nick, in the woods, blindfolded, and being a literal fruit ninja. The only thing better than that? The cocky little smirk Nick aims at the trees as he surveys the fruity carnage he’s wrought.
