Sean Renard Mixtape (Music Mondays)

What I have to say about Sean Renard could fill a book, so I will just let the music speak for itself. Don’t judge some of this because you think it’s twee bubblegum pop – a) it’s a respectable music genre, thank you very much, but b) listen to lyrics, and the darkness and sarcasm of the tone of the music. If I had to pick one song to represent this character it would either have to be drive, ambition, self-hatred and desire to mould onesself featured in ‘Oh No!’ or it would be as the Phantom in ‘the Music of the Night’. Sean is of the ‘Cool motive. Still murder.’ variety of character, just like the Phantom.

Music Mondays – Monroe

Who I’d Be Shrek the Musical
Beasts Slow Moving Millie
Alejandro VSQ
Sail VSQ (you can’t get the pure VSQ version on Youtube, but you can on iTunes, I much prefer the plain Vitamin String Quartet.)
Everybody Hurts G4
Regret Everything Everything
Out of My League Stephen Speaks
Counting Stars One Republic
Dance in the Dark VSQ
Demons Imagine Dragons
Discombobulate Hans Zimmer
God & Satan Biffy Clyro

River Runs Through It Murray Gold
Mama Do (Flip and Fill) Pixie Lot (Flip and Fill remix)
FourFive Seconds James Bay
Marital Sabotage Hans Zimmer

This is a deep, dark and mainly chilled out mix, that rises to sharp intensity before falling back down. I’ve tried to show Monroe’s anger, his sadness, his passion and the other things he tries to control with pilates and cello music.

Next week will be a mix for Sean Renard.

Music Monday – Series Four Mixtape

So I’m super excited about this new feature here! Every Monday I’m going to be sharing a mixtape about a particular part of Grimm – whether it’s tracking the story of a season or the tone, a single character or a pairing. Each will feature 22 songs, and I’ve got it all in a spreadsheet so I won’t feature a single song twice. I’ve got a broad taste in music, and especially in the story playlists, I’ve also included songs that might not be to my taste but fit the theme. But! When I try to match tones with Grimm, expect dubstep, driving cello pieces, dark electronica and a touch of metal, like the fantastic soundtrack, which may still be available to purchase in CD format from Amazon.

Next week will be a Monroe-themed playlist, with accompanying fancy graphics.

Each link takes you to a YouTube video of the song, simply because I like a lot of covers that you can’t find anywhere else.

Series Four Playlist

In this playlist, I’ve tried to track the main storylines as much as possible, so there is a mix of tones and tastes as I’ve tried to capture the story.
