This part of s1 is an important turning point for Nick and Monroe too. Just before this Monroe has been trusted with the trailer and saved Hank’s life. Now Nick is treating Monroe more carefully. And when Monroe is in danger he risks his life to save him.
Watching real close to see when exactly Nick loses the Disney prince bangs. Did it show up in season two after the scene with his mom? Like he went and got a haircut in the midst of everything that was going on? Or do they gradually recede through the back half of season one and I never noticed?
Nick being all Intimidating always does things for me. Not gonna lie.
Nick clearly has a soft spot for street kids. Almost foreshadowing for him basically adopting Trubel later.

Someone mentioned it a long time ago but Nick really does make a point of touching Monroe whenever he asks for something. He’s always with the firm friendly shoulder grip and the big eye contact when he’s making a request that he knows is huge and annoying. And Monroe says yes Every. Time.
You gotta wonder if Nick grew up a little like Roddy: always on the outside, always feeling different. In Nick’s case, never really knowing why.
So Nick actually does say later in the episode he was “different” growing up. I wish we got more about his childhood in the show.
